The Ultimate Week in Denver

allytsarnas

While I titled this blog "The Ultimate Week in Denver" there is so much amazing scenery to explore outside of Denver. This guide consists of the ultimate 7 day itinerary in Denver and its surrounding areas.

Day 1-3: Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park

After flying into Denver head up to Estes Park to spend the next 3 days exploring the little mountain town and Rocky Mountain National Park.

  • Favorite hikes in RMNP:

  • Bear Lake Nature Trail - Easy .7 mile loop trail

  • Dream Lake Trail - Easy 2 mile in-and-out trail

  • Alberta Falls Train - Easy 1.6 mile in-and-out trail

  • Gem Lake Trail - Moderate 3.1 mile in-and-out trail

  • Sky Pond via Glacier Gorge Trail - Hard 9.4 mile out and back trail

  • Favorite activities in Estes Park:

  • Estes Park Tramway

  • Check out a brewery

  • Explore downtown

  • Get dinner at the Stanley Hotel

Day 4: Head back to Denver

Take your time heading back to Denver to get settled into your new accommodations for the rest of your trip. If you have the time, or the energy, stop in Boulder for some lunch to break up the trip. After you settle in, head over to Five Points an bounce around a few breweries before settling down for a early next morning.

Day 5: Royal Gorge Route Railroad and Garden of the Gods

Start the day by heading down to the Royal Gorge Route Railroad for a train ride lunch with some amazing views. After the train ride, if you want to explore the canyon more, check out the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park. Here you can walk across the highest suspension bridge in America, zip across America's highest zip line, ride a skycoaster, or take the Aerial Gondola up for the best views. On your way back up to Denver, stop at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs.

Day 6 and 7: FINALLY Explore Denver

Must do's while exploring the city:

  • Red Rock's Park and Amphitheater - If you wake up early enough, I recommend grabbing a coffee and some breakfast to go, and watching the sunrise over the amphitheater.

  • If you're a sport fan, check out Coors Field.

  • For book lovers, buy a book at Tattered Covered Book Store.

  • Walk around 16th Street Mall.

  • Check out the Colorado State Capital Building.

  • Get ice cream at Little Man Ice Cream - Prepare to wait in a long line, but this is the best ice cream I have ever had.
